Marketing is not an event, but a process . . . It has a beginning, a middle, but never an end, for it is a process. You improve it, perfect it, change it, even pause it. But you never stop it completely.

I didn't get into design to be an artist. To me, an artist creates things to evoke emotion. Being a designer goes a step further than that, not only trying to evoke emotion but trying to make a reaction. It is very objective-driven, and that's what makes it interesting.

That’s Marketing!

If we are asked to promote a movie in our town, let’s say “Pirates of the Caribbean” and we make a poster that says “Pirates of the Caribbean playing at The Main coming June 15th” that’s advertising. If we hire a bunch of actors to dress up as Pirates and run around the town handing out flyers, that’s promotion. If a pirate trips and falls thru a store window, that’s publicity. If we get the store owner to laugh about it, that’s public relations. If the town people go to the movie and the kid at the concession stand convinces you to buy the $15 “Pop and Popcorn Value Meal” as opposed to a $10 popcorn and $7 soda, that’s sales. This whole thing together, THAT’S MARKETING!
